2024 Scholarship Application

The Zeta Phi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated would like to award a monetary scholarship to a young man of color of African-American or Latino descent that is a high school senior residing and attending school in the Greater Fairfield County, Connecticut area who desires to obtain a college education in the field of their choice.

Criteria


1. The applicant must currently have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
2. The applicant must be accepted to an accredited U.S. college or university for the current academic year as a full-time student.

The high school student must submit his application and include the following documents:

  1. Every applicant must answer one of the two essays below with no more than 250 words:

     

    • Considering the challenges facing young African American and Latino males in the United States, what have you done, or will you do to uplift your community? (Please provide your action to make a significant change in the community.)
    • What is one of your biggest personal obstacles to date, what steps did you use to overcome the obstacle, and what did you learn about yourself?
  2. A resume or activity sheet listing community services performed, a varsity or junior varsity activity, other extra-curricular activities, and/or extraordinary personal commitments.
  3. Application Checklist:
    1. Completed and signed application.
    2. One essay along with an activity sheet or resume.
    3. Documented proof of community service.
    4. Answer one of the (2) essay questions.
    5. One (1) letter of recommendation from a person you are not related to.
    6. Official transcript.
    7. An acceptance letter from an accredited U.S. college or university
